My Life of Sin took me on a Bangin Beats BENDER for two massive events: Friday - The Chemical Brothers, with a Future Music Festival chaser on Saturday.
Part 2
Future’s well and truly in the past, and any stubborn mud stains have either been bleached into oblivion or are indelibly there to stay ready for next year’s inevitable mud bath.
The fun and filthy Roamarama stage might have been better called Mudarama, but after the first reveler took a flying wet dirt-dive through 12 inches of squelching mud, I was suitably attired to get down and even dirtier with some equally filthy beats.
Mud map in hand – I was going in!

The plan was Gypsy & The Cat, Tydi, The Presets, Sander Van Doorn, Sven Vath, Cosmic Gate and Steve Angello in that order. Ok, ambitious plan.  The revised version became Sander Van Doorn and Cosmic Gate ...Small stage, high, and relatively dry, and a marathon 3 hr set by each at the Dusk till Doorn trance stage...

Ranked #10 in the world, DJ/Producer Sander Van Doorn took me exactly where I wanted to go with a delicious vignette of genres, swirls and sounds. The flying Dutchman took us high above the mire with his signature blend of tasty tech trance... which really got the shirtless, (obscenely cut) and mud-strewn boys moving rather nicely, providing added 'visuals' for this truly dedicated music enthusiast – a shout out to all the major players, wink.

But if you missed out, download Sander’s compilation Dusk Till Doorn. (There are no 'bonus visuals’), but you will get a solid sense of where the concept was born. Sander commented : “Dusk Till Doorn is a night that was dreamt up a while ago. The club night is now firmly established globally, so with this compilation I’ve tried to condense into two mixes what happens over the course of a Dusk Till Doorn night.” For this little sonic sinner, a very welcome part of the Future Music Festival tour.

Next it was Cosmic Gate who worked really well after Sander’s epic set with tempo, tone and BPM a sweet fit. Nic Chagall and Bossi have been transporting trance fans into altered states of bangin bliss for over a decade, and anthems like “Body of Conflict”, “I Feel Wonderful”, “Enough Time”, “F.A.V.”, “Analog Feel”, or the old skool “Exploration of Space” promised to fully put out. What gorgeous emissions came from those speaker boxes – the only disappointment being – IT JUST WASN’T LOUD ENOUGH!!! ...SHOUTY, FRUSTRATING, OVER-CAPITALISATION FULLY INTENDED!!!! I was close enough to accept lollies from the security guy upfront, yet my ears were gagging for some unadulterated, unrestricted AMPAGE to get me there.

It was still one of those rare treats to see an act like this, and that’s exactly why FMF is such an important part of the music landscape. The boys were pretty buzzed too, coming to say hi and revel in the pleasant after-taste, Nic commenting, “we had an amazing time with you guys ...we could see and feel the energy you were giving us and we had a lotta fun, thank you.”
No thank you, Cosmic Gate and Sander Van Doorn. This little music nut was happy as a pig in poo at the muddiest Future Music Festival to date. Maybe mud just adds a whole other layer, (although sneaking in at Ridiculous O’clock to looks of horror from my flat mate told a different story! (WHO PUTS WHITE CARPET IN A RENTAL PROPERTY ANYWAY!!!!!!)
