Dance diva Zoe Badwi is skyrocketing up the club charts around the world, but it’s her support of the gay and lesbian community that’s seeing the Melbourne singer starting to be compared to icons such as Kylie Minogue.
Sydney DJ Murry Hood first broke Badwi into the gay club scene after hearing one of her tracks and then had Badwi sing at one of his gigs. From there, the ARIA award nominee went on to perform at some of the biggest dance parties in the country including Rogue, Sleaze Ball and Sensation.

Badwi hasn’t hidden away from the club scene and her vocal style doesn’t appear to be hiding away from a similar style to pop icon Kylie Minogue. Badwi admits that she is a fan of Minogue -- both of them!
“I love her (Kylie Minogue). I used to have posters of her up on my wall. I loved Dannii as well when I was younger,” she tells Cleo magazine.
As Badwi continues to take her love for the Minogues and spread it on dancefloors across the country Australia awaits whether this dance diva will make an appearance at Mardi Gras 2011.

When asked about her love for the gay community, Badwi tells SameSame.com.au that it’s the energy of the crowd that she values the most.
“I love the gay community. They really get the music… they feel it. It’s like the whole world stops when a great track is on. The need to express yourself and dance and celebrate is just so present. And as a performer, giving it my all, I can really feel the love and appreciation back,” she says.
As the summer festival and party season looms closer be assured that Australia will be seeing more from the Kylie-inspired Zoe Badwi in 2011.
