Born Joel Zimmerman, you'd have to ask yourself how he came up with the name Deadmau5 (pronounced 'dead mouse')? He came up with it after finding the stinky surprise of a frazzled rodent in his computer.
Deadmau5 (also known as “Halcyon441”) has become one of the most sought-after artists on the electronic music scene, after rising to prominence when his track "Faxing Berlin" found its way onto the playlist of legendary DJ/producer Pete Tong's radio show.
In 2005, Deadmau5 released his first album, “Get Scraped”, with his follow up “Random Album Title” released in October 2008 featured the funky electro bounce of 'Hi Friend', featuring Toronto MC Flipside, and the more deep house flavoured 'I Remember', a collaboration with Kaskade.
2009 saw a career highlight, when he was nominiated for a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical (“The Longest Road” (Deadmau5 Remix) by Morgan Page featuring Lissie). He aslo released For Lack of a Better Name, a CD that has set dancefloors alight globally. Hits like "Ghosts N Stuff" only further help his stellar reputation.
